It is no wonder that it has partnered with the National Research and Innovation Agency of Uruguay (ANII) to promote the training of Uruguayan students in a Masters or PhD program at Macquarie University in specific research disciplines via co-funded scholarships. These co-funded scholarships provide international students with the exclusive privilege of having their studies adequately funded.

Worth of Award

For a PhD program, the Co-Funded Scholarship will provide funding for:

• Return Airfare between Uruguay and Australia.
• Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).
• Full Tuition fees for up to 3 years.
• A stipend paid at the Research Training Program (RTP) Rate (2021 Rate $28,597) for up to 3 years.

As a candidate, your research project should be from one of the Specific Research Disciplines listed as follows:

• Animal and Human Health (include Pharmaceutical)
• Environmental Science
• Biological Sciences and Biodiversity

• Engineering
• Advanced Medicine
• Cognitive Science
• Transport and Logistics
• Other areas defined by the Parties

How to Apply

1. When sending in your application for the ANII and Macquarie Co-Funded Scholarship Program, note that you must first apply to Macquarie University. If you are a new applicant, you will need to apply to Macquarie University for admission and scholarship. Your research projects should be from one of the Specific Research Disciplines listed.
2. New applicants apply by completing the Online HDR Candidature and Scholarship Application via the Online Application System. Within the application please answer the question as follows:
   1. Scholarship Details – Select the scholarship that you would like to be considered for at Macquarie University, select ‘Co-funded Scholarship’
   2. Funding Arrangements – How will you fund your living and study expenses?, indicate ‘ANII MACQUARIE’.
3. To be considered for the scholarship, you will need to provide the details of two academic referees with their online applications.
4. Applications will be assessed at Macquarie University and, if successful, Macquarie University will send a list of eligible candidates to ANII. Successful PhD candidates must forward their Macquarie University admission letter to ANII by March 2021.
5. ANII will make the final selection of students and inform Macquarie University.
6. Selected candidates will receive an offer letter for the relevant higher degree research program.

Deadline: The Macquarie University application round is currently open for Session 2 2021 commencement. The round closes on 17 March 2021 (11:59 pm Sydney time).
