The European Union is offering  Scholarships for the Erasmus Mundus Master in Chemical NanoEngineering programme in 2021/22 session.

The CNE program is a joint master program in Chemical Nanoengineering offered by three European universities:

• Aix-Marseille University (France)
• Tor Vergata Roma University (Rome)
• Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (Poland)

Chemistry for Nanoengineering is an innovative field of science and technology which is developing very fast. The 2016 Nobel Prize in Chemistry shows the importance of the research in this area. It has shown that engineering of the Nanomachines is not any more a science-fiction; it is just a beginning of new engineering specialty where the Nano-systems can be numerically designed and chemically synthesized. These new technologies will create a large demand for specialists in this field.

All courses are taught in English, so proficiency in English is required. Two of the Partners are engineering Universities (PL and IT), which is important for the program goals towards excellence in nano-engineering innovation. The third partner (FR) has a strong chemical nano-science profile which will allow them to teach their students the chemical fundamentals during the first semester in Marseille. The complementarity among the three partners plays a key role incoherence of the joint program:

The first year of studies (Marseille, then Wroclaw) is common for all students. The First semester of the second year (Rome) allows the students to choose between two options: experimental one and numerical one.

The Master thesis research project (30 ects, Marseille, Wroclaw, Rome or one of the Partner Institution) is intended to bring the student in close contact with a multinational and multidisciplinary research environment of a research institute in academia or in industry. The student can choose among the list of proposed relevant research project and work in close collaboration with other researchers. The research project is finalized with a public presentation of a Master’s Thesis in Marseille in September. The Master Thesis project is evaluated by an external international jury.

Worth of Award

The amount of the scholarships (monthly allowance + contribution to Travel and Installation) given to the selected students differ from the country of origin of the students.

There are two categories of students:

• PROGRAMME Countries students: Students whose citizenship is one of the Erasmus+ Program countries (ie Member States of the European Union (EU) and Former Yougoslav Republic of Macedonia, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Turkey).
• PARTNER Countries students: All the students who are not Programme Countries students.

Contribution to subsistence costs

Monthly allowance for subsistence costs given to the awarded students during the two-years Master program is: 1000 €/month.

Contribution to the travel and installation costs

The contribution to Travel and Installation costs given to the awarded students is:

• 1.000€ per year for scholarship holders resident in a Programme Country.
• 2.000€ per year for travel costs + 1.000€ for installation costs for scholarship holders resident in a Partner Country whose location is situated at less than 4.000km from Marseille (for the calculation of the distance follow the link).
• 3.000€ per year for travel costs + 1.000€ for installation costs for scholarship holders resident in a Partner Country whose location is situated at more than 4.000km from Marseille (for the calculation of the distance follow the link).

Contribution to the Participation Costs

The contribution to Participation costs given to the awarded students is:

• 4.500€ per year for scholarship holder if citizen of the Programme Country.
• 9.000€ per year for scholarship holder if citizen of the Partner Country.

Eligibility

• GPA (Grade Point Average) of at least 75% of the scale maximum is required
• A good command of English must be certified
• The students who are residents or have carried out their main activity (studies, training or work) for more than a total of 12 months over the last 5 years in any Programme Country will be considered as Programme country students. The 5-years reference period for this 12 months rule is calculated backwards as from the submission deadline of applying for an EMJMD student scholarship.
• Individuals who have already benefited from an EMJMD scholarship are not eligible for a second scholarship in order to follow the same or another EMJMD.
• Students benefiting from an EMJMD scholarship cannot benefit from another Community grant while pursuing their Erasmus Mundus masters studies.
• EMJMD students scholarships are awarded exclusively for a full-time enrolment in one of the course editions.

A complete application file must include: 

• Your complete and up-dated Curriculum Vitae (European format),
• Officially certified copies and translations into English of your diplomas (please send a scanned version by e-mail). Please note that selected students will be asked to bring the original diplomas when arriving in Europe,
• Certified English translation of transcripts of your academic grades,
• Motivation letter,
• Officially certified document of language test (copy of the TOEFL/IELTS score report, or equivalent) if you are not graduated from a University where English is the teaching language,
• Scanned copy of your passport or any other ID AND a proof for determining your legal residency,
• Photograph,
• Two recommendation letters,
• Essay on nano-engineering (4 pages maximum).
